| Implementation Highlights: |
The 50-kilowatt installation at White Oak Pastures in Bluffton, GA will save Harris 30 percent in energy costs for his entire farm. At the time of installation, White Oak Pastures had the larg-est solar barn installed in the Southeast.
In addition to designing and installing the system, Hannah Solar procured a USDA Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grant and completed a buy-back agreement with the local EMC to fund the project.
Through the grants and ex-ternal funding, White Oak Pastures was able to get back 65 percent of the total cost of the barn in its first year of operation. Also,
the solar thermal (solar water heating) system will save 18,725 kWh of electricity and 27,493 lbs in CO2
emissions annually. |
