Project Description

Sargent Metal recently began generating clean energy with the addition of a 609.4 kilowatt (kW) solar array atop their facility in Anderson, SC. The system, installed by Hannah Solar, will produce an offset of 26.7% of the annual energy consumption of 3,192,357 kWh.

Sargent Metals had considered solar opportunities previously but decided that the payback period was too long for investment. With the Duke Energy $1 per watt rebate incentive, the solar investment was recaptured in the first year. Hannah Solar managed the application process for the 609 KW system and achieved a $609,000 rebate for Sargent Metals. The completed solar array powers approximately 26.7% of the annual electricity need for this metal fabricator, a savings of $60,000 annually on their utility bill.
