ATLANTA, September 27, 2022 – Hannah Solar Energy, Inc. a leading southeastern solar installation company, is proud to announce it served as the solar PV engineering, procurement, and construction company for UCB, a global biopharmaceutical company, located in Atlanta, Georgia.  UCB was awarded the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification at the Gold level by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for the renovation and construction of their Atlanta building.

Hannah Solar was the designer of this 223-kW solar photovoltaic array (solar panels). This rooftop system will offset approximately 20% of the building’s anticipated total annual energy usage, maximize the production given the available space on the roof, and produce on-site emission-free energy generation, an integral part of LEED scoring. This allows UCB to reduce consumption of electricity from the grid and reduce the demand charges associated with the peak use of energy.   Hannah Solar Energy, Inc. performed all solar system, design, procurement, installation, and associated electrical connections working closely with Evergreen Construction and CRESA on the management of this project.

Pete Marte, CEO of Hannah Solar Energy, Inc. said,

Rooftop solar is one of the greatest opportunities of this, the ‘solar decade’.  The aggregate unused space on the roofs around the southeast is very significant and will be put to good use by the owners or tenants of these buildings.

There are many drivers for the growing adoption of rooftop solar and more clients are finding out that they may benefit from multiple drivers within their organizations.  The cost of electricity is rising at unprecedented rates and the savings from solar are getting better every time a rate increase is approved.

The federal tax benefits cover 30% or more of a solar installation including the site preparation which often includes a new roof.   Lastly, with the increasing intensity of storms, flooding and heat waves, companies with a commitment to ESG are finding that solar is a very cost effective way to reduce their carbon footprint with little effort and utilizing space that is unused.  UCB was in the midst of a large campus renovation and solar made sense on all of these fronts and we were excited to work on such an exciting project with them”.

About Hannah Solar:

Over the past 16 years, Hannah Solar Energy, Inc. has installed over 400 commercial solar projects and 400 residential solar installations throughout the southeastern U.S., totaling over 90 MW of power.  Many of these use energy storage which provides a more resilient building. An equal number have had Hannah Solar install Electric Vehicle Chargers with their storage systems. Over these 16 years there have been many advances in the energy industry and never have those changes been as dramatic as now.
